Q:
Will my physical therapy be covered by my insurance?
A: Most insurance companies will cover physical
therapy if it is medically necessary. A prescription
from your doctor is often proof of medical necessity.
Some insurance plans do not have this clause,
and will grant you unlimited physical therapy
with no prescription required.
Q:
Is there a limit to how many times I can receive
physical therapy?
A: The goal of physical therapy is the return
to activities you love. Some insurance benefits
have limits to how long or how many visits you
have, regardless of goals. The staff at City Sport
Physical Therapy (CSPT) will work with you to
manage your benefits so you achieve the maximum
goals in therapy.
Q:
I have been seeing a chiropractor, will that affect
my physical therapy?
A: We can work with your chiropractor to achieve
mutual goals. Physical therapy can assist in your
treatments by strengthening, improving range in
motion, of the muscle groups, as well as alleviating
your pain.
Some
insurance companies will combine physical therapy
benefits with chiropractic and occupation therapy.
Therefore, if you have been seeing a chiropractor,
you may not have as many covered visits available
for physical therapy. Our staff can assist you
in determining if you have a combined benefit.
Q:
My doctor has scheduled surgery, but wants me
to attend physical therapy first, why?
A: There are many reasons why a doctor may prescribe
physical therapy prior to surgery. One reason
may be the possibility the injury can be resolved
with physical therapy. If surgery is inevitable,
your recovery will be swifter and easier due to
the increased strength, range of motion and a
decrease in swelling and pain prior to the procedure.
Q:
I am having chronic pain in my ________ can you
help me?
A: There are many ways exercise, stretching and
the various treatments available at CSPT
can minimize or eliminate pain. If your pain is
not resolved through treatments at CSPT, we can
refer you to a medical specialist who will assist
in a diagnosis and alternative treatment.
Q:
I was injured at work and have a Workers’
Compensation claim. Can I obtain treatment at
CSPT?
A: We accept Workers’ Compensation patients.
You will need a prescription from your doctor
and approval from your Workers’ Compensation
insurance adjuster. There are limitations to your
physical therapy benefits under California Statute.
You can read about them here: 2005 Workers’
Comp Revisions. http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/DWCForm1.pdf
Q:
Does Medicare pay for physical therapy?
A: Yes, if the patient is improving. They will
not cover physical therapy as maintenance. A new
prescription is needed every 30 days and the staff
at CSPT will assist you in obtaining required
prescriptions.
Q:
What insurance companies are you contracted with?
